Hail to Überpong!

Many years ago, a fortune-teller spoke of the coming of a powerful movement. This vision saw many disparate, disconnected designers coming together to fulfill a powerful destiny involving prophets, paddles, and ping pong.

The ping pong prophet has finally arrived in David Lowe and his company Überpong. Some say the idea came to him in a dream with paddles shaped like scimitars.  Others say he just thinks a little flair will help people will enjoy the game as much as he does.

Imagine a Grand Slam tournament for Ping Pong, right here in Austin. “Andre Agassi changed the way tennis was perceived when he wore crazy outfits on his way to winning Grand Slam tournaments,” says Lowe. “We want to do a similar thing with ping pong. The Uberpong ping pong paddle designs are an extension of your personality. We want you to play with style.”

Want to play with style and be a part of the legendary revolution? Überpong has just launched a project on Kickstarter and is asking for your support! Go contribute to their project here!

Überpong has already gained a healthy following and become a welcome player in the Austin social scene.  On a typical Überpong night you’ll get people of all ages, neighborhoods, and professions coming together to share a passion for ping pong.  And for that we say Hail to David and Überpong!

What’s A Hail To?

green letters hail to thanks

If you visited last week, you might have noticed that we added some new content to the Our Community page.

What we didn’t explain is what exactly a ‘Hail To’ is.

A Hail To is the OurPangea way to send a public thank you, write a recommendation, or simply make a shout out to someone.

To illustrate this, imagine you just spent some time with a local animal shelter. A Hail To would be a perfect way for the Shelter to send you a thank you acknowledging—or even recommending—a job well done.  A Hail To can provide a window to your community involvement and directly show the value you bring to the people around you.

We imagine the Hail To eventually having potential for virality akin to the Twitter #, and the relevancy of a LinkedIn recommendation. We’d like to make it a tool for recognizing Good, and for now, you can get your name up there as one of the first ‘Hailed To’ just by donating to our Kickstarter project!
